This is the first English Translation of any major text of the Tijaniyya: one of the world's most vibrant and least-studied Sufi orders.
Founded by Shaykh Ahmad al-Tijani in the Maghrib in the late eighteenth century, this Sufi order has spread throughout sub-Saharan Africa and beyond. The Kashif al-Ilbas, a work which contributed to the spread of the Tijaniyya in twentieth-century West Africa, demonstrates the fruitful dialectic between Sufi traditions and the continued relevance of knowing God through the Sufi path.
