About The Book

al-Tasrif al-Izzi is Imam al-Zanjani's celebrated universal beginner's matn of Arabic morphology (sarf) — the science of word-formation, conjugation, and the patterns by which Arabic roots generate their derived forms. Composed in seventh-century AH Iran, the matn has been the universal first text in sarf placed in the hands of beginning students of Arabic across the Sunni world for over seven centuries.
