About The Book

al-Muqaddima al-Hadramiyya is Imam Abd Allah Ba Fadl al-Hadrami's foundational Shafii fiqh matn — the standard introductory text in Hadrami and Baalawi Shafii teaching for more than five centuries. The matn presents the rulings of ibadat (tahara, salat, zakat, fasting, hajj) in tight didactic prose suitable for memorisation, and is the foundation upon which subsequent Hadrami commentaries — most notably the Bushra al-Karim of Bashin and al-Manhaj al-Qawim of Ibn Hajar al-Haytami — were built.
