About The Book
al-Alfiyya fi al-Sira al-Nabawiyya is al-Hafiz al-Iraqi's celebrated versification of the Prophetic biography into one thousand lines of rajaz verse, also circulated under the fuller title Nazm al-Durar al-Saniyya fi al-Siyar al-Zakiyya. The poem follows the canonical sira order — the noble lineage, the early life, the prophetic call, the Meccan and Medinan periods, the campaigns, the closing illness and death — compressing each into terse, memorable couplets.
About The Author
al-Hafiz Abu al-Fadl Abd al-Rahim b. al-Husayn al-Iraqi (725-806 AH / 1325-1404 CE) was the supreme hadith authority of his age — a Shafii jurist who served as chief judge in Madina and Egypt, the teacher of Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani, and the author of the celebrated takhrij (source-verification) of the Ihya Ulum al-Din. His Alfiyyat al-Iraqi in mustalah al-hadith remains the universal memorisation text in the science.
