al-Bayan fi Madhhab al-Imam al-Shafii is Imam al-Imrani al-Yamani's monumental 14-volume comprehensive Shafii fiqh treatise — the largest Shafii fiqh work composed in Yemen and among the most comprehensive treatments of the school in its entire history. Working at the high point of the Sulayhid period in Yemen, al-Imrani drew on the foundational Iraqi and Khurasani Shafii traditions to produce a complete exposition of the school's positions on ibadat, muamalat, family law, criminal law, and judicature — with detailed engagement of variant positions and rare cases that the more compact later works pass over.

Imam Yahya b. Abi al-Khayr al-Imrani al-Yamani (489-558 AH / 1096-1163 CE) was the leading Shafii authority of Yemen in his time and the author of al-Bayan fi Madhhab al-Imam al-Shafii — the largest Shafii fiqh treatise composed in Yemen and one of the major comprehensive Shafii works in the school's entire history.
